the rendering is superb.. the resolution is superb..  the handling is much better than the D810.. the AF speed lags behind the D5... and although the file size is only twice the D5, the buffer only holds 35 shots at 9fps vice 200 shots at 12fps for the D5 before it slows with RAW files.

i won't shoot this over ISO=1600 for now.. maybe with the right light i could go higher.  ( I routinely shoot at ISO=5000 with D5, although given the photo site size that stands to reason)

generally (ISO aside) it is a clear improvement over the D810.

from today and this is cropped over and above the DX mode..  pretty good at ISO=1600, i guess i could safely go to ISO=2000

Bob, Great shots. You certainly have a nice selection of wildlife available. Great shot of the hawk's eye.

Bob, these are amazingly detailed images.  Apparently the improvement of your skill of shooting birds has greater effect than that of fine-tuning of the focus.

A super series of photographs and it includes such a wide selection of beautiful birds from a tiny Kinglet to the massive Turkey.

I particularly enjoyed the finely rendered details of beak and eye in the hawk photographs

Bob, that looks like a miniature oil painting.  An artistic one!

Higher shutter speed? Not for me.
The eye and beak are sharp. It gives some speed in the image.
Perhaps a little more light in the eye.
Wonderful! :)

I agree, the sense of motion, adds another dimension to the image. Lovely contrast between sharp and soft. The other images are great as well.
