The Busselton Timber Jetty
« on: March 22, 2018, 05:58:13 »
Busselton is an old coastal town in Western Australia. At nearly 2 kilometres long, the famous old structure is the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. Originally used for loading/unloading ships largely during the 19th century, it is now a famous tourist attraction with a train carrying passengers over its length.

Took this shot on colour slide film one afternoon years ago but preferred the mono post processing.

Mongo, your B&W treatment suits this one rather well.

It certainly is a famous landmark and it is good that it is being looked after.  The big one at Echuca on the Murray River is also worth a look, but it has lost some of its original length.

Interesting place the monochrome processing make it look like it was an original photograph from the old days.
Nice picture.

Hey Mongo - nice one! I've got a similar one too - D800E AFS 58mm - but no where near as dramatic or skillful - just a snapshot

Very nicely done with the depth of the image, the clouds, the houses and the light ! The b/w is really great.

A fantastic representation of this interesting wooden construction.  The lighting is dramatic!

In addition, the symmetry created by the dynamic clouds spreading from right behind the houses and the surf in the foreground proves the perfect timing.

thanks all for your comments . Yes, there was an amount of post processing but that was part of the fun of making it what it is.

JJ , thanks for including your image of the Busselton Jetty. It just goes to show how much this structure is photographed for this tiny corner of the world.
