It is 7 months today since I opened this thread. I am happy to report that the "case is closed". The Nikon distributor in Greece, at the suggestion of Nikon technical, changed the AF lever. I tested the camera in 3 outings and the problem is gone. I attach a picture of the part that was changed.

Many thanks for the update, I too have had this problem(as reported on another thread), and have just been informed by Nikon repair,

"Unfortunately due to an unprecedented change in the status of your repair, the technician has identified that the camera requires a new Af-M Lever Unit "

Hopefully this will also fix the issue for me and many others.
I will also update upon return of my camera.
