Yes, not an usual scene for Rome. We had snow only on 02.2012.
Here's another one.

How often does this happen?

I've lived in the San Bernardino valley for twenty eight years and I've seen snow like shown once. I've seen snow that hit the ground and didn't last. I've seen it in the air but not making it to the ground. The mountains around have snow right now but not the valley. This this is Southern California where low temps (I can hear them up North laughing) and precipitation don't frequently coincide. I've seen it down to 19℉ (-7.2℃).

Do the drivers in Rome know how to drive on ice? The drivers around here scare the hell out of me.

You're very kind to think drivers in Rome - Well... maybe Italy - really know how to drive at all...  ;)
BTW, how often?... I'd say, never enough... this is a bless from the photographer point of view...

Did you know? You can see snow in Rome easier than me driving!  :D

This was just after a few hours snowing in the night...

All snow leads to Rome.
Nice to see snow feature much more this year than in the previous years all around Europe.

So you are sharing some rare images of Rome, Marco!  Unusual views with an unusually wide lens looks really unusual.  Thanks for posting!

Quite an event for Rome (the local children must have been thrilled to bits to be able to play in the snow?!) but something of which we have had more than enough this winter — including another 16'' just a few days ago which has broken trees, brought down power-lines and created havoc generally.

Both the snow on those well-known landmarks and your wide-angled photographs of the event make an unusual and interesting set.
