Japanese knots

These are a couple of traditional Japanese knots.

1. Agemaki-knot: used to tie the raised curtain in front of the divinity.
2. Ume-musubi, meaning "apricot knot".  It's shape would be self-explanatory.

Thank you for showing us these knots Akira.
I appreciate the seaman's knots art and didn't know they had not exhausted all the knots possibilities.

If I understand correctly, the seaman's knots are great example of the "form follows function" concept.  These Japanese knots (and maybe the Celtic knots) have spiritual meaning as well in addition to their individual functions.
