AF Nikkor 28-85 f3.5-4.5 misaligned focus
« on: November 10, 2017, 14:27:29 »
Hi
I have this old AF lens, but the focus is misaligned.
It has been found in a dumpster, so may have been dismantled by more than me :o
The distance readout is completely of.
The front lens group seem to be the only elemen moving during focus, I cannot seen any links to the rear lens group.
I have downloaded a service manual, but I am not clever enough to see what’s wrong, hope someone is able to guide me.

Sounds like you may be trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear?

On its best day, the lens is a cheapo ... and time = money.

If you found it in the dumpster, and it doesn't work, not sure it's worth the time/effort/expense of attempted correction ... when you could just buy a good one for next to nothing.

Unless you're trying to hone your teardown/rebuild skills, it doesn't seem worth the hassle.

It is mainly for my training, as I have other lenses, so more for fun, if someone had some idea of what is wrong, as it can focus.
