Yes, it has been done by many before....but could not resist a go at it.

The staircase is wonderful and your photograph, and especially your processing of it, makes it spectacular!

Glad you couldn't resist!  In addition to the color and processing as Ann points out, I also love the precise framing so that the spiral touches itself in every turn.

Very original take, shooting up from downstairs (instead of shooting down from upstairs as most of the "many" did/do).

The tones and lines are lovely, Mongo!

Wonderful

I have seen it multiple times from above, but not from below

thanks all for your comments.

the most work on this image was spent on the choice of crop and the post processing. From your comments, the work was worth it - many, many thanks

Fro Jacov, the "above shot" is differently processed and not as favoured by Mongo. However, will post it because you asked for it. Thanks Jacov.

Thank you, Mongo!
I wouldn't call the image from above that bad at all :)

Glad you that couldn't resist in the first place and then that you decided to show us.
Both have their merits, the first stands out by the light colours contrasting the near b&w relief and structure.

thanks Thomas and M floyd.

Its true - the colour version took an amount of post processing to almost each area of the image selectively. The conditions are such that Mongo does not think it is possible to get a shot with a reasonable balance of light , colour and detail otherwise in this situation - certainly, not SOOC .

The colour and detail are excellent.  It's a small thing but the distortion of the canopy is off-putting to my eye: is it possible to straighten it?
