Here's an interview published in 2008 with Nikon R&D about Precision Glass Molds, or rather Ultra Precision Glass Molds. I must confess to be in awe of the tenacity of these engineers who persisted with this idea through to successful mass production. The context sheds new light on the 14-24 f2.8G ED
