Stay safe. Have your  towel ready all the time!

Esp I think of Armando in Mexico, who has storm Katja and Earthquake in his neighbourhood, well, not immediate, Guadalajara México seems to be 1000 km away from the center of the quake
All ok , Thanks !

Dry ice. My emergency backup refrigeration system. Supposedly it sublimates at the rate of 5 pounds/day and once the power fails will keep the refrigerator cold if placed on the freezer side. I bought 20 pounds, which should cover me through next Tuesday. I'm told not to put it into the freezer until the power fails and to take it out immediately after power is restored to avoid damage to my refrigerator's compressor. $32 for 20 pounds, cheap insurance if I need it. I wrapped it in some old towels for extra insulation. Hopefully, that will slow down the rate of heat transfer into the block of dry ice and help preserve it for when it is needed. I'm going to post the photos from my ipad. If luck is on my side, I selected an angle which will look right no matter what the site's software does to them.

The towel is very important, just ask my friend Ford Prefect!

You obviously know where your towel is  ::)
You are out there. You and your camera. You can shoot or not shoot as you please. Discover the world, Your world. Show it to us. Or we might never see it.

After buying the dry ice this morning, I got a call from middle daughter who had decided the grandchildrens' bedroom windows needed to be barricaded. At this late date there is no plywood available for that purpose, so we ended up using 1x6 deck boards. Not cheap, but it looks very sturdy. I'll post a picture later perhaps. Afterwards, i went to Sam's Club to get a pork shoulder to smoke so we would have some cooked meat for the next couple of days.Sam's had gas, but there was quite a line. I didn't stop. Here's a photo of the gas station at Sam's and another of my pork shoulder waiting to go on the grill. As you can tell by looking at the sky in the Sam's club photo, still no sign of Irma.

My pork shoulder, smoking away. In the southern USA, a pork shoulder is commonly refered to as a pork butt. Many think the name is due to the small casks used to pack them back in the 17 and 1800s, commonly known as butts.

Arthur, having been flooded by Harvey, my heart goes out to you and the many millions of Floridians who are at risk.  However, your hurricane supplies look deficient.  Where is the case of wine?
