Better, no stupid watermark and don't need to pay to watch 1080p.

hmmm, 8K is 7680×4320 resolution, which means the sensor is at least 7680 pixels across. Since the FX sensor has 3:2 ratio, the shorter dimension must be 5120 pixels or more, giving a total of at least 39.3MP (7680×5120), more if the 8K time lapse has some cropping from the full frame image.

hmmmm again - so if these inferences about sensor size (MPx) are correct, then this particular rumour mill is suggesting a successor to the 36Mpx D810?  Not a bad thing if true.

However another rumour mill is also suggesting a D5-Lite with the D5's AF system, its excellent 21MPX sensor, and the D5's build quality - and I am certainly one that misses the presence of a true D700 successor (which was essentially was a D3-Lite).

Patience indeed - only time will tell.  Roll on the 26th of July.

The D850 is no longer a rumor since there has been an official announcement. No details yet but we can infer something at least from the name, D850 is clearly a successor to the D810, and the 8K implies the sensor has at least a small increase in resolution.
