South Dakota 2017
« on: July 24, 2017, 04:41:05 »
Earlier this month I was on a short vacation in South Dakota - fifth least populous state of the 50 United States.
In short, South Dakota = Vast Emptiness, Open Prairie, Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Black Hills, some native American history and lots of Harley Davidson.

#1. Some say the drive to South Dakota (from Minneapolis) is very boring. Didn’t seem that way to me.

#2. And we drove past quilt shop

#3. And yes, vast emptiness…

#4. That small diner in a lonely town called Chamberlin by Missouri river

#5. "Please close door please"/ 50¢ wings

#6. Bed and breakfast

#7. More emptiness.

#8. Prairie grassland

#9. Badlands National Park

#10. Dramatic landscapes, layered rock formations, steep canyons

#11.

#12.

#13.  Bison, Prairie dogs and Bighorn sheep (below) are natural inhabitants of Badlands.

** I missed a long lens.

Anirban, I am amazed by the landscapes and your photos!
Akira, would have loved to shoot those clouds, while I would have approached those daises :)

I will had happily cruise those lands with my bike too.
Very american: "smoke free.." and the flag. Nice seem and presented
There is something extra to that shot with the umbrella. People lost in an alien landscape with a colorful cover. The contrast is striking.

I second John.  You captured varieties of beautiful light here.

Akira, would have loved to shoot those clouds, while I would have approached those daises :)
