Cres, Croatia 2017
« on: July 19, 2017, 21:01:34 »
The most precious 3 weeks in a year to me are the weeks that I spend during the summer break with my kids.
We almost always visit Cres on the northern coast of the Croatian Adriatic.
With Paco in mind, this morning I took some IR wide angle images with a modified D200 and the 10.5DX fish-eye.
Yes, this is another fish-eye that simply works wonderfully in IR since I have endlessly used the 16/3.5 Nikkor and 8/3.5 Sigma fish-eyes in the past.

1. The traditional pile-up it gets tougher/heavier every year;
2. Chilling at the beach;
3. The IR boats (Paco);
4. The Cres landmark - the big bell.

Still wondering what to shoot tomorrow :)

Nice!! First one is an all time family album keeper.

Last one is great with it's upcrawling ghostly cloud.

Yes!

   Beautiful, fresh and love spreading images.

  On the technical side, d200 with which kind of filter?

Thank you all for your comments and encouragements!

ThomasG, the pile-up is a tradition of ours that I will try to maintain as long as possible :)

Paco, Erik placed a ±600 nm cut-off filter in the D200.

Armando, I can hardly wait to swap places in the pile-up :D

This morning I got pleasantly woken up by this little bird.
Two takes, both with D750 and 300/4.5 AIs ED.

Then I decided to follow the one lens one body per outing groove and mounted the 20/1.8.

Family holidays at the sea are great. More so if it is for three weeks!
I love the images of the pile up and of your children smiling to each other.
Also the first swallow shot is great.

Thank you JA, Akira, and Simone! I am thoroughly enjoying every moment.

Today I shot with D750 and 20/1.8. The idea behind it is to compare images that I took yesterday and determine once and for all why would I take IR images in the first place. OK, the field of view isn't exactly the same between the 10.5 mm in DX and 20 mm on FX but it is not that far apart.

With that in mind I took a shot of the big bell from the more or less exact location, and then I tried to process the image to match as much as possible the IR image I took just a day earlier. The 20/1.8 is a lens I highly recommend! I cannot determine which is better, probably the IR image because of the more interesting foreground :)

1. The big bell;
2. Answering messages and reading the news for breakfast;
3. The colors of the Adriatic Sea;
4. Boats (Paco);
5. The containers and pine trees;
6. 20/1.8 can also do portraits although I admit I should have opened the aperture more instead of the f/8 that I used, oh and it is the only shot that I cropped thus far.

Thank you all again for your comments and encouragements.
What will I use tomorrow?
