Klaus, what formats do you have your mechanic set these lenses up for?  M43 or other cropped sensor size?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Klaus!  Yes, that was what I meant.  Apparently cine lenses are designed with all aspects of the aesthetics of the image rendition: sharpeness, bokeh and even flare and ghost!

The flare and ghost would be from single coating or no coatings. The bokeh in many is smooth and creamy. Maybe it's from under corrected spherical aberration.

John, projection lenses were used to project movies on large screen to be viewed by an audience. Those are sharp and bright (i.e. have a low f-stop), yet have no aperture (iris) built in, nor a focusing mount.
Cine lenses are taking lenses for the production of films, have aperture (usually de-clicked) and focusing, ofter very fast lenses.
Thanks Klaus.  The name 'Cine' is bit misleading. So basically it are lenses used on movie-camera's and mostly designed  for a small format of film?

Why would it be misleading, they are "cine" lenses as this denoted lenses being used for cinema film making, and you'll even find it printed on those lenses at times ("Cine-Fujinon" for instance etc.). Formats are up to 70mm film format, which I wouldn't call "small".

Well Christian, it seems more they find me, than me chasing them ;-)

But still, I love adapting them and trying to find out where they are at its best and appreciating the effort
and optical engineering skills which went into their making. And bringing those often neglected ones to
a new, digital life, brings a smile in my face! It is also in praise of the ones who once made them.

best wishes,
Klaus

Took my freshly converted Lomo OKC4-75-1 f2.8 75mm for a spin after the rain.
Shot fully open on Panasonic GH4. This is a cine lens for 70mm film, covers FF.

Very nice rendering, Klaus, is this Lomo 2/75 a 35mm cine-lens or a 16mm ?

Forgot to answer: the Lomo 2/75 is a 35mm cine lens
