Some needle work
« on: May 21, 2017, 15:07:17 »
Shot a number of more traditional 'tribal' (Oceanic) orientated tattoo events some time ago, so when I saw the announcement of this one my curiosity was obviously triggered

Bit of a let down, not so much 'tribal' but more the 'fantasy' 'horror' stuff that lately has become popular following TV shows like Inkmaster etc, with plenty of tattoo ink and suffering in silence around, in a badly lit factory hall like venue

Still a great opportunity to get out the DF and 1.4/58mm to do some old fashioned low light 'documentary' shooting taking advantage of its high ISO capacities and amazing shadow recovery, a far cry from pushing  Tri-X over ISO 800 and hoping for the best  ;)

#1 seems a little soft perhaps from focus or movement due to possible low shutter speed. All images enjoy very good solid contrast. Interesting social commentary for those of us not familiar with this 'ink' activity.
