Hi from New Zealand
« on: January 22, 2017, 02:28:57 »
Hi all

Nice to find nikongear and its community online and well.

A while ago on a walk, I met a fellow hiker with an old nikon slr carefully composing a shot. He shrugged as I stared at his camera (had a film point and shoot back then). "I don't really know what I'm doing but sometimes I get a photo I like." Cannot find better words to describe the 10 years or so I've spent doing digital photography.

Damien

Welcome to the NG site.  There are quite a few Kiwis and ex-Kiwis on this site, plus even one or two Scots and Vikings that I know on here that have visited down under.  Enjoy.

A lovely shot of Mt Taranaki and the Pouakai ranges - one of my favourite places. Welcome aboard! (I'm based in Auckland, nice to see another New Zealander here :) )

Hi Frank and thanks. A long white cloud... I didn't think about it but rather fitting (land of the long white cloud is the maori name for nz).

Hi Roland, from the bay of plenty. Thank you too. Not quite a new zealander myself but been here long enough to call nz home. Rock formations, plant diversity... Taranaki and Pouakai are lovely places to explore.

Hi Damian, welcome from the other side of the world!
(in Italy, from where I am posting, they say NZ is at our antipodes. Not entirely correct, but the illusion/delusion is fed by the boot shape shared by both countries)
I hope one day to visit your beautiful country.

Thanks Erik. Watched the impressionist and chaos threads and enjoyed them very much.

Hi Simone and thank you. It is said the north island is a fish and the south island a canoe... rather than a boot :) I only visited a few cities in italy but what I've seen i liked very much.
