From New Year's visit to Honmon-ji shrine
« on: January 01, 2017, 06:55:07 »
Happy new year, all!  I wish you a prosperous year.

Here are some images from my New Year's visit to the Honmon-ji shrine near my place.

The first batch is for rather typical New Year's scenes.

The second batch is for some other things that caught my eyes and are not necessarily related to the new year...

Happy new year to you Akira,

Great series, thanks for showing the typical and not so typical images of your new year day

The VW bug, what a find !
I never seen the blinkers in such a  position, and I wonder how much effort it must take to keep the car road legal

Thanks, everyone, for dropping by and commenting!

;D ;D and where's the BIG SMILE !

Elsa, I was too much involved with adjusting the angle of the camera and never thought about my facial expression!  :D

Armando, I'm always interested in different cultures and thought it was worthwhile.  I don't have any in-depth knowledge about the classical VW, but was attracted to its wheels, flat front window and the overall look.

John, indeed it was a warm and pleasant day.  Perfect condition for visiting the temple.

My attention was drawn to those wide whitewall tires. That was once a fad here in the USA, but that was many years ago. In fact at one time they were even wider, and also narrower, before whitewalls just disappeared from the tire fashion scene here. Time erases fashion, eh.

I am enjoying your non-automotive New Year's shots too.

Carl, thanks for the comment (you are Carl from FilmLives, right?  Nice to see you here!).

Yes, I actually meant the whitewall tires.  Thanks for the details of those types of tires.  I remember that the old car models had white tires, too.  Glad you enjoyed other images.

Ouch! Having just been diagnosed with spondyloarthritis in my neck, turning my head very far means pain. I just started a 2 week trial of an anti-inflammatory  drug to combat that pain, and your photo made me wince!  ;D
