Raw Editing contest #24
« on: November 20, 2016, 11:00:53 »
Raw images uploaded into Dropbox - you can pick any one you like
Dont necessarily think you have to dream up hugely creative edits (although that will also be good!)
Even just decent proper editing they way you would have edited the images will be really cool.
In that way I also learn how you would have processed the image if it was yours.
First one - the waves at Kalk Bay
Second one of Table mountain taken from Signal Hill - 16mm fisheye - kind of washed out to the left.
You are also welcome to comment on what I did wrong when I photographed these.

Elsa, now you know what would happen if I were to come to the sunny blues skies in Capetown :D

My edits follow. Done a little tidying up in Photo Ninja by reduction in fisheye distortion; both images are cropped to make them more balanced composition-wise.

Elsa asked for "run of the mill" edits and here they are.

Capture One Pro edit. Hope I get the time to give the other one a try later.

I've focused on giving the foreground some extra life to match the dramatic waves.

Ok, two "normal" edits. Severe crops though.

When is it RAW editing and when is it not .. would it be OK to also post process in e.g. Nik Color Efex (not a RAW converter...)?

I understand these challenges are how to present an image. So in my book, just let your imagination run wherever it takes you with the required tools.

Yes, the RAW reference is that you download & post process a RAW file, not that you must keep within a RAW converter to do the editing.
