Leica M/Leica SL 47.5 MP Rumor

Not really the huge fan of rumors,,,  but Cmosis who made the 24 MP sensor for the Latest Leica M just announced a full frame sensor of 47.5 MP so LeicaRumors speculation is not far fetched IMHO,,,

Would be a really nice upgrade,,, possible for a new SL as well

I notice the words "global shutter" in the specs. If that is possible with the sensor mounted inside a camera, there could be a totally silent Leica M.

I wonder if this is aimed at still photography with being only 12 bits. But the global shutter is a good sign for furhter developments.

I recall that Cmosis states that the sensor is for cinema use.  12 bit is pure luxury for movie use, though the data stream at 24 or 30 FPS will be huge.

Yes the 12 bit part has me a bit puzzled as well,,, But OK let us see what comes out,,,

It is a new Leica M10 that is coming for sure, first images of the camera is now online, lookes like an M9 with an ISO dial top left, and a little slimmer Sensor uncertain,,,

I hope that it is an ISO dial.  Would Leica have an ISO dial with just whole values?  There don't seem to be enough markings on the dial for it to be a full listing of all the ISO values at 1/3 stop increments.

Leica M you have full speed values engraved with half stops and full aperture stops engraved and thirds stops Indeed its an ISO dial, very handy,,,

Sorry to sound like a wet blanket, but the linked announcement explicitly says that the sensor was "developed for machine vision and video applications".  So, it is not likely to be used in a still camera, isn't it?

I've also read somewhere that the global shutter reduces the sensitivity of the sensor, which is not good for a still camera that is not known as a low-light monster...

Oh, but the M10 will obviously be supplied with a Leica exclusive version of that sensor    No video just Live view,,, I hope

Yeah, I strongly hope that Leica 10 will offer something unique and of a concept that is different from Japanese manufacturers, like M3 did.
