Day 20 - heading for the Golden Circle. All touristic hot spots.
First: visiting the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plate.

20 - 1 Þingvellir tourists (Thingvellir National Park [click])
20 - 2 Þingvellir tourist walk
20 - 3 river in the sun
20 - 4 crash zone

20 - 6 rock ptarmigan (50mm's are not ideal for birding -> 50% crop)

Thank you, Erik. It is. Looking at maps tells a story. The fissures are quite visible from above.

Thank you, Andrea. It's lovely, sometimes, and rough in other times and a lot of nature all the time. Well worth the effort going there.

Day 22. Hveragerði geothermal area. A hike and a natural bath in a hot spring.
As before: some of the fumes contain acid. Take care of your equipment.

22 - 1 Is it active?
22 - 2 Yes, it is. Better stay on the path!
22 - 3 Hold your breath (just my 5c)
22 - 4 mud pot, documentary side view from the bridge
         (mud pot: is full of water, acid, minerals, heat. This one more fluid than others)
22 - 5 the bath (very relaxing)
