I think Erik is referring to the red fading into the yellow in the final image.  I agree with Erik, it very striking.

Lovely set of images Klaus.  I am drooling!

Despite the obvious CA, quite an amazing lens. Yet quite a challenge to do that handheld, what I did.

Very colorful image here !

I am going to join... :)

First pictures with a 85mm f/2,8 Super Paxon a projection lens outfitting Braun projectors.

Very cheap and light and quite easy to adapt on my Df... ;)

Lacking quite some contrast Francis (although that has its own charm...) ... Sunshade??
Of these "normal" projection lenses, I find the Leitz Colorplan 2.5/90mm giving excellent results at
a very moderate price!! https://www.flickr.com/photos/kds315/albums/72157658050401373

Love the last one from the latest batch, Klaus!

Francis, I like the dreamlike atmosphere of the lens!

I have a Colorplan 90/2.5 ... my projector came with a Hector 85/2.8 if I remember correctly. I replaced it with the Colorplan which projects a noticeably brighter and crisper image. It would be fun to use it this way... :)

Thanks, Klaus !
It lacks contrast indeed, but I couldn't improve it by PP.
Actually I tried to test this lens for its bubbly background ability and this implies backlit shots. Not really successful so far and I have to work on this purpose... :-\ ;)

I haven't used it yet on my sony next 5.

Cheers, Francis.

Maybe it is hazy Francis? Shine a LED flash through it from the backside and look through the front then, easy to see then if there is haze!

Re: Projection lenses--Angenieux Types 65 and 86
« Reply #193 on: June 15, 2018, 20:00:42 »
Ah, a subject dear to my heart projection lenses. Let me post a few with the projection lenses that I have. First Angenieux. There are a series of early 35mm projection lenses by Angenieux, all of which are slightly adjustable for focal length. Three types exist, the Type 65, Type 75 and Type 86, increasing in diameter as you go up. The front lens diameter remains the same, and thus the longer the focal length, the slower the lens for each type. I don't know the entire range, but I know that they exist from 85mm to at least 140mm. The shorter ones are more interesting IMO, because of the swirl and character of the bokeh in the shorter ones.

I have a few of these, of which my favorites are the Type 65 85-90mm (effective aperture at 85mm is ~f1.3) and the Type 86 95-100mm (effective aperture at 95mm is ~f1.2). I'll post five examples from each--the first five from the 65 and the last 5 from the 86.

Added note: It turns out that the 65 with super-swirly bokeh has been modified. I had it out of its focusing mount and discovered that the rear cell had been replaced with a doublet from another lens (which one I have no idea.)

Re: Projection lenses--Super Cinephor
A recent pleasant discover are the Bausch & Lomb Super Cinephors. These are monster lenses, double gauss design. I have two now, a 5.25 inch and a 6.5 inch, both f1.8. The 5.25 is especially striking for its clarity and sharpness. The 6.5 is also good, but has a bit more glow, indicating, I think, some spherical aberration. These are for 35/70mm film projection.

First four with the 5.25, then two with the 6.5. I just got these before I left Tokyo on assignment, so I just started playing with them.
