LZ, I really like the first image with the LYK ship. I would have probably gotten rid of the two rocks bottom right and just left the stark negative space.   Still constant rain but at least not as much flooding a some parts of India.  Nice thing about living on a hilltop  ;)

Yes, Tom, I left the rocks intentionally, to balance the ship's nose. Sorry to hear about flooding. We are survivors of the "Sandy" hurricane 4 years ago. Take a look: devastating at all...  Thank you for your friendly postings!    LZ 20121205-048-3 by longzoom, on Flickr

20160807-2016-08-07 008-2-2 by longzoom, on Flickr.                     1/8 sec, 5.6, ISO5000. Hand held, with supporting for elbows. VR was up to task.  Nice reflections, very rare event.   LZ

Take a look at the can's handle - the lens's resolving power is enough for next generation of 60-70 MP sensor, I believe.  TNX!  LZ

Upper one is a crop to about 2000mm.  Next one is at ISO640, to give the send structure more natural look. Crop is saying it at all. THX!   LZ

LZ, your photos are persuasive evidence that good picture quality can be obtained with this lens.  Are the shots you've shown shot from tripod, handheld using VR, or both?

The HUGE sunset is overwhelming!

I also love the image of lifeguards with the crude oil carrier in the background: a very nice color composition.

.         Since VR was implemented, have never used tripod outside. Handheld VR ONLY, with supporting for elbows, as the night image of Manhattan at 1/8, as VR in this lens is a blessing! On speeds range of 60-180, VR is on "Active" position, to avoid VR-shutter-mirror wrong mechanical vibration, caused by engineering mistake of D800-810 mirror boxes. At this position, the lens is fantastically sharp, no double lines at all. So I left the "Active" VR at any speed, it nicely working for me. Thank you!   LZ
