* the * other * life *
« on: May 25, 2016, 11:23:31 »
Our city has 320.000 human inhabitants originating from roughly 200 different countries ... I guess there are 100.000 different life styles to meet and being met by here ... the other life ... all humans who are not in my direct circle of a few hundred ... all animals and plants ... create forms ... forms I cannot always understand ... fascinating to be touched by these ... leading a life not as a solitaire but as a person connecting to these others ... to the other life ... yesterday I shot a first series of other life walking my city ... life that somehow echoed my current mood ... green was important ... light was important ... wild growth ... buildings as expression of other life styles ... walking my city not as a constructionist photographer but as an emotional human being ... being moved, being touched, being changed and enchanted by the other life ... to be continued

Very "conceptual" series.  I like your points of view.

Now we are talking  ....love the concept, and see your vision.

The first image, dead fly's and the Mannequin heads touched my emotions  ....well done!

Frank, I'm into the darker mood you've presented across this series, both visually and conceptually. I look forward to the continuation.

Great series, the second one technically very different from the first (but in a close mood, it seems).

my neighbours once a year create a makeshift altar with a flower mandala (other neighbours a few hunderd meters away do the same, 4 Altars together) ... I can easily attach to this, very nice and open modern girls and boys with all the hopes and clothes and smartphones and ideas ... love that hurts and joy of earthling things everybody enjoys ...

but then a strange thing happens ... police blocks  a public road for the while and ... a procession comes that has its root deep in German Biedermeier ... and they most enstrangingly hold a Latin language church service right below my window ... this year I did dare to step closer to capture some of the feel of this event that seems to have fallen out of time ... transporting values that I cannot attach to ... all the melodies I know but in a different context ... Pope Pius X as their hero ... anti modernist and at times politically very questionable at least in some representatives ... I hope I managed to capture and transport my enstrangement in these two sets of pictures...

In this third set I show how normal & modern these people seem to me ... how comes they cater to this anti modernist celebration of belief?

Lovely series, Frank.  The color and density choices feel 'right'.
The imagery made by the fixed 23mm on the X100T has a great charm...even wide open.
I use my Fuji 23mm all the time, now on my new XE2s.
Question:  What is your current preferred raw converter for the Fuji-X files?
