I am not an expert, but I've tried it (w/o bellows) and it definitely requires some planning. I can't find a focus stacking issue. I really like the composition and how you used the shading. It gives more depth. It also leaves the impression that the left part is a bit further away (depending on how I look ;-) ).

A lovely and most successful image as the other members here have said.

The image also looks very nice if horizontally flipped around its vertical axis - the interplay of dark & light and the bead like patterns on the shell seem to please me more if flipped that way. 

Maybe it is just me.  :)
