Thank you Armando.
I am not sure when you started focusing manually. I started photography with a Nikon FM almost 25 years ago and always prefered manual focus over AF. With AF I never got the consistency I had with MF so I never indulged in it too much. It's a matter of practice however, even if a good eye helps.

Now as for the good eye, I (unintentionally) got a piece of metal in my eye 2 days ago. I hope it fully heals, otherwise I will have to learn focusing using my left eye. From the few attempts I gave it, that would be almost as tough as starting from the beginning all over again.

I used to shoot with my right eye, but now my left seems to be better so I switched. After a while you will hardly notice. I did add a magnifier (DK17M) which helps with hard to focus lenses like wide angles. I still don’t trust autofocus and very rarely use it unless I’m handing my camera to someone to take a photo for me. I suppose I should give it a chance one of these days.

In a near completely dark room, using flash to at least get some light on the subject (remote trigger and holding the flash with my left hand, slung under the lens to support the camera) I made this photo. (The lights in the enclosure went out about 2 hours before I could make this photo, and the only light source was a light in the kitchen. Turning on the light in the living room would have spooked the spider)

I used an AF lens, but focused manually because there was no light for the AF to work with.

I'm happy to announce that after 2 accidents, both involving my right eye, and both within a 2 week period, vision to my right eye is 100% again.

That's great to know, hopefully no remaining scars or the like (they're nasty on your eye)?

Great picture!

Been quite a while since I posted here on Nikon Gear, but a friend prompted me to get re-involved. Anyway, here is my daughter's rescue greyhound, full tilt on a local beach.

A classic. Strong and funny wirks for both the car and the can. Great balance with the light and shadow parts.

My albino, Rodney, is doing well.  Susan's obsession with our kitchen continues.  Her nicknames 'Trashcan Susie' and 'Dishrack Susie' have been well earned.

Buddy, is the Tarantula yours?  Lovely!  Spiders are so fascinating.
