I am thrilled to see this site in operation and am looking forward to learning from the highly experienced members. While I am an entomologist by education my passion is plants and my photographic efforts lean that way. Hope my bank account does not suffer too much from what I pick up here!

Welcome aboard, Scott.

You probably will read more about old manual-focus lenses here than the latest $ 10.000 designs from the big makers  ;D

Lots of people on NG love to twist, contort, and tweak their gear so it suits their own purposes. You might be surprised what can be done to an old-timer optic.

Thank you Bjorn! It is the old classic glass, elusive rings and all the appropriate widgets and tinkering that has me worried!
