Old Barn in the City
« on: June 18, 2015, 21:19:48 »
I love old barns.  They have so much character.  This one is located just off a very busy highway and is surrounded by new apartment and commercial developments.  The owner doesn't seem inclined to tear it down.  Not an eyesore to me.  Its has too much class.

Lovely old barn - do you have something shot a bit wider to show the surrounds?
btw I like the B&W

Elsa,

Not very smart of  me to tell a story which the picture does not tell.  I do not have those shots at this time and I will work on it, because I like the story.  The black spot in the tree branches in the second shot, is a plastic bag, presumably from the Walmart market located a bit behind the barn.

It is always easy to comment on a pic if you dont know what the surrounds looked like, what the situation was etc. One just cant see. So you work with what you have - and then people like me come ask for the bigger picture :)

Thanks Elsa,

My comment about not being very smart was a poke at myself.  Besides, it got me interested in going to the barn to visit my favorite sandwich shop, Jimmy Johns, so I am really appreciative.  I'm on a new quest.  The other side of the barn is not really very interesting.  The roof is tin. It does not have the character of the worn wooden shingles shown in the photos.  I may fail to find a wider picture which I like, but at least I can visit Jimmy Johns.

It is probably not high on the owners priority list to tear it down. I like your BW treatment.
