Christian and Borge, your extreme closeups are amazing!  I know that the moon travels unbelievably fast even in much lower magnification (like through a 300mm lens on FX).  How long the lenses you used were?

I used a 600mm with 2x converter on m4/3 camera. It was windy, I had a lousy tripod and not to well dressed for the conditions. It was like panning a bird without a panning head ;D

Thank you for the details.  Your explanation rather makes the image even more amazing!

Beautiful images everyone.
I watched this moon rise yesterday evening whilst I was out on my bike. Tried to take a few pix on my mobile but they were forgettable.

It was even more beautiful this morning, setting as I was getting up and gliding in and out of a bank of clouds.
Sadly I had a tight schedule and no time for pix. I really regret not being more organised now.

Thank you all for sharing

Dear all, let me join with my take of the 'supermoon' from yesterday. A single, full frame shot.

Great moon views from all ! I peculiarly like Fons' one, quite dramatic :-)

Alas my faithful Df is at Nikon for a change of it's "leatherette" cladding, front back and even the aperture knob one. I feel naked without that camera  ;)

For moon shots, somebody taught me the « rule of 100 ». If you want the moon to be of the same size as an object, house, monument, you multiply the size of the former by 100 and that represents the distance from which you make your moon shot.

Example: house with a size of 12 meters; for the moon to be as big as the house: shooting distance = 12m x 100 = 1200m.

Not much of a moonshooter myself, trial and error on exposure.
Thank you Jacques.

I am not sure i understand this.

Nice one, Marco.  Was this a single, in-camera exposure?

Thank you Keith, yes it was a single in camera exposure.
Taken with the D850/zeiss milvus 50mm lens.

Nice extreme closeups MFloyd and Børge and Tejpor, well done getting the foreground working. The supermoon behind Atlas has a very nice atmosphere, I like how only part of the moon is showing.

Very nice eclipse Marco, well done getting both the eclipsed moon in a single exposure in spite of the intense city lights.

Interesting effect with the clouds Fons. Mystic shadow over the eclipsed moon, Bruno.

Isn't the 300PF such a nice lens to shoot the moon with Daniel?

Here are some different uses of the lens on the moon, all handheld as I recall, only the first one with TC-14E. (These are not B&W or sepia toned, just how the colors came out):

After the Supermoon, the moon is about to shrink.

Oh well could not resist a more technical supermoon capture in spite of seeing not being the best...
