Cool shot Gary. The long spiraling tail is great.

Jakov probably bitterly regretted bringing an entire suitcase full of empty beer cans with him to visit Erik and me in Copenhagen. Erik made the cans fly and I recorded the event ...

Afterwards, Jakov complained about a 'headache'. I wonder why ....

Anthony, the one with the tower is really nice!
Amazing pilot skills, may I add :)
Thanks, Jacov, the Red Arrows are the RAF's aerobatics team.  The occasion was the opening of the London Olympics.  Here are a couple more.

Why? ... Just Why?

Gary, are you asking why we created that picture or are you asking why I brought a suitcase full of empty cans from The Hague to Copenhagen?

The picture is iconic, and although it did hurt, I will treasure the memories of creating it forever :)

As far as the cans go, well that is a strange one.
About a year before this shot was taken I was in CPH visiting Erik.
We had a beer. Once I drank mine I squashed the can for no particular reason. Erik politely informed me that these cans cost money and that you can return them to the shop (recycle).
Then I politely asked what is the difference if the can is squashed or in its original state? I didn't get a logical explanation apart from that's how it is.
So when I returned back to The Hague, I secretly started collecting cans. First in black garbage bags, then they were too small so I found a very old and huge suitcase in my cellar and I started packing them gently inside.
After about a year and a full suitcase I visited Erik again for the weekend. I only had hand luggage for the trip plus the cans :)
When Erik saw me at the airport he was confused why I was carrying so much luggage for just a weekend stay. But as soon as he grabbed the suitcase he figured something was strange...

Attached is Erik with the suitcase :)
Edit: I added the cans in the suitcase.

Thanks Jakov. Yeah, I was about why one would travel with a suitcase of beer cans only to have them dumped upon his head while sitting naked in a bathtub. A bit too kinkey for moi. The photo ... hell, that is not something you see everyday.

We have similar recycling laws here in California, but the cans can be crushed. BTW- beer tastes better in bottles.  8)

BTW- beer tastes better in bottles.

Very true - but preferably in a glass rather than straight from the bottle.

I wanted to sell them in CPH and reimburse Erik for that one can that I crushed so wickedly  ::)
We found out of course that we couldn't do that and those cans that can be recycled have a special sign on them.

Beer does taste better in a bottle and even better in a glass as Anthony suggested, but carrying it from the supermarket to your fridge is heavier.
Besides, cans in Holland are just thrown away, whilst beer bottles are either recycled or disposed of in special containers, hence a drag carrying them full to your house, and then carrying them again empty to wherever...

So I simply pour the beer into a glass from a can and have the best of both consuming and carrying worlds :)

I prefer a bottle too. But ... why put it in another glass when it's already in one  8)

The advantage of a glass is that the nose can enjoy aroma of the beer, which adds to the flavour.
