[CONTINOUS EFFORT] we are what we eat and show it
« on: September 02, 2015, 07:26:12 »
What?

People show their faces in SELFIES
People show what they eat and drink in FOODIES
People show personal XXX on the sites that encourage them to.

we are what we eat and show it

is about PHOTOGRAPHY first, so please, no unambitious shot with any camera from your last visit to your favourite burger joint. Which does not mean a well crafted smart phone shot from you last visit to a burger joint might not be aesthetically pleasing and qualify to be shown here. I try to set the tone with some things I cooked and eat in the last few days...

1) heat accident: these hand made candies sucked water from the air, so I tried to dry them. Did not work. Taste was good anyway.
2) sitting in a friends kitchen at night, sipping Pinot Gris, talk, pistachios
3) yesterday: guests, so I grilled some marinated calf chops with tomatoes and Mozzarella
4) unambitious breakfast: a handful of Basmati cooked with olive oil, pepper, salt and tomatoes
5) This is a really tasty, fruit salad after a while in the fridge ready to eat. But is it good for the eye too?
6) another shot of #3. Both suffer because I used the standard kitchen light bulbs no balanced lighting with high colour fidelity
You are out there. You and your camera. You can shoot or not shoot as you please. Discover the world, Your world. Show it to us. Or we might never see it.

LOL ... Frank, none of these do I find very appealing ... as in "OMG I want some ...". #2 and #4 start to get my salivary glands pumping ... but I like to see a bit more of the wine glass and the noise in the background is distracting in #4.  It looks as if you focused on your subject and didn't bother to reframe. The cheese and tomato in the last is very appealing to my taste buds ... but the framing and DOF are not up to your typical standards.

thank you, Gary.

Now post your own.

I cook so much I will do better. Esp. I have to install some lamps in the kitchen permanently. The "available" mixed light is not up to the task.

You like to cook and I like to eat ... I wish you were my neighbor.  If you're just looking for color balance, a couple of small strobes in the corners of the ceiling may just do the trick or stick them in "lighting cans", again simple if you have an acoustic ceiling. My shipment of wine from The Russian River Vineyard is arriving on Tuesday. Come on over for wine tasting.

Frank, these will in no way compare with yours, but my wife likes to bake. Her baking is much better than my foodies...

This one was for a little boy who loves cars and 4x4ing.

Sadly going Low Carb has played havoc with my baking :(

Way back in 2012, here was the "before"

The kitchen smelt like heaven when I got this out of the oven
