That's a nice one Keith, with plenty happening

Meanwhile I agonised over the white balance on this image
It looks a bit unreal, but actually the moss at the base of each tree was almost fluorescent that (grey, overcast) day
This time it's a crop from a D500 file

A question on the name of this Theme

I get that these are like panoramas
And that we didn't use stitching to make them.

In other circumstances, many might describe the format of these images as "Letterbox" maybe?
(plus, no one expects you to need any stitching to make a Letterbox image.......  :P )

This isn't a request - just a random observation.

I love this Hans
You've got the colour balance just right so there's a great warmth in the buildings & streetlights and the sky's naturally blue whilst showing the warmth of the setting sun too.

I love proper snow, but where I live in the UK we've had about 1cm since winter started.
4° C yesterday was about as cold as its got so many parts are flooded instead of the crisp and white scenes of your pic

Many thanks, Colin - I'm very happy with your comment on color balance. It was late and not much light left on the buildings, but still a bit of vey low warm sunlight - I've tried to balance both.

Hope you've had some snow in UK since your comment - we still have winter and these days yet another snow storm.

Agree with Thomas - that's a very nice pano, Keith.

Got me curious - Letterbox, widescreen:
Wiki: "Letter-boxing is the practice of transferring film shot in a widescreen aspect ratio to standard-width video formats while preserving the film's original aspect ratio."

Yes, I guess we do the same, just leaving out the dark upper and lower bars of the TV/monitor. When I use my panos on my 16:9 monitor as background, there are dark bars above and below :-)

When I have similar issues with white balance, I select a Linear Curve (Capture One), and works with RGB and Luma curves manually, often with better results.
I like your shot, and the fluorescent green color of moss can be tricky!

Thanks Lars
Sadly the only tool I own is NX Studio

I sometimes take a WB reading for important work (which im usually pleased with),
but not for everyday shots like this

As the others have stated, the overall WB and color comes across well.  I think you might be up against the limitations of sRGB to make the green any more vivid.

Hi Colin, i started this thread quite a while ago to have a place to drop my film pano images, but wanted to differentiate from the digitally stitched ones. Those images are 3:1 (in film: 6x17). But, no need to be too restrictive, hence the ambiguous name. The only 2 requirements are: pano format and not stitched from multiple images.

Hope this helps, important to me is seeing so many beautiful panos  :D
