Still June here in Alaska, but June thread is already locked, so apology for violating the rules. Seems to be good year for the Snowshoe hares around here after they have been rarely seen for a few years.

The lens is the AFS 300 mm f/4 E PF VR if you want the full designation ;), used with VR in sports mode.
As other small game, there is hunting season for snowshoe hares in autumn though much of winter. The populations varies in natural cycles and are not threatened any way.
-
Thanks Øivind - I have my eye on this particular lens. Still saving. :)
Good that it is just a natural variation in hare numbers that you are seeing. We are losing too many of our species here in Australia.

Sunset seen while walking the dog
I've seen this shot many many times, but to get it I have to balance myself on a narrow concrete flat area and get the camera low to the ground, never shot it with the D800, avoiding the risk of falling into the mud/puddle
Easy to do with the flip screen on the x-t3

Home alone, lousy weather so just messing around with Z6 and 85 f1.4D. The lens feels/looks great on the Z6/FTZ and the MF is easy. My son's Scooter's front wheel at f2, MFD, ISO 100, 1/250, handheld
At f2/f2.5 it will be fine for some indoor Events (not action ;) ) .

That's a nice one, Fons.
Scanning b/w negatives, how, what setup youre using John?
Not scanning, photographing, via a Led Panel. The 'negatives' you get are splendid and large.
-
John, how do you eliminate the mottling effect in the images of the negatives created by the LED photo sites in the panel?
Do you have a heavy diffuser or do you have the negatives well above the LED panel? Or is your panel not prone to creating this effect - my LED panel certainly does show this mottling effect.
Thanks in advance.

Hugh, I have one of the Huion LED Panels and they do not create a mottling effect, the light (1500 lux) is equally distributed and the smooth surface (acrylic) can be directly effectively used.

Got a new phone :o
Impressive setup
After 16(!) years of daily use, my mobile started to fall apart. This, plus the need for having a control interface for my underwater ROV, necessitated my getting a new "smart" phone. "Smart" as in dumb and dumber. One spends more time trying to disable or remove the bloat and "assistants" than using the device.
The setup is basically a modified Nikon Multiphot, to which I added a Stackshot rail and cold-light fixtures. The lens is the Laowa 25/2.8 Ultra-Macro (2.5-5X) which I actually purchased on a whim, and has proven itself very useful for my current project. Optical quality is surprisingly good for a quite cheap lens.

Jacques, a ginger cat with blue eyes. Quite unusual - thanks for sharing. Glad you found a suitable replacement for the stolen lens.
P.S. I have had a total of five ginger cats over about 60 years, and their eyes all transitioned from blue as young animals to the more usual orange/yellow colour that adult tabby cats have..

This one is a cat that belongs to my second daughter's husband. Quite a special cat that survived countless mischiefs. He's getting older now and a wee bit more tamed :o He's the last of our family cats (My wife and I stopped having cats, but do the cat-sitting for our children and nephews)!
Yes, the 60mm f/2.8 AF-S G ED Micro Nikkor is a very light (vs the 105 VR) everyday lens, with quick AF. Might have some use with my architecture students models 8)
BTW, I just blocked someone on Flickr that seems related to Birna and Fons (I saw it afterward). There's been a spat of "russians ladies" (not only ladies) lately, that favored thousand of pictures from many accounts... The usual signs : several years of account, no albums, a handful of pictures in the gallery... So if Nikonmf is someone from NG, I'll happily unblock him (or her)... ;)

I've just unblocked you... :D
Sorry for the harsh move, but a few months ago (when still with Yahoo) I had several dozen of people making a rush for all my pictures. I wasn't alone, we were thousands ! The admins tried to clean out the site of these hackers and did succeed, as their level dropped significally.
Since then, I'm a bit touchy and verify who's liking my pictures and when I find the telltales signs I block the user :o
Those signs are:
• Account of more then a year (not an apparent newbie discovering the site)
• No albums ( There are a lot of people not doing Albums. I can't really understand why, as it's easy and a good way to classify).
• A handful of pictures ( going through all the spectrum, most with a different camera).
• A "huge" hoard of favorites (could be newbies in photography trying to understand the craft, but then "explore" or other searches can be as efficient).
I guess I must have blocked honest people like you, having created an account years ago and lost interest in Flickr, getting back in from time to time for some purpose (new lens, new camera, etc.). I'll try to be less harsh 8)
Sorry again for this mishap...!
-
No need to be sorry.
I started my account at Yahoo many years ago, they had forums like NG, to ask and get good advice about Nikon.
The forums it not very active today, so I use NG, which is a very nice place in cyberspace, and we even meet face to face occasionally, I had been away for meetings for the last 3 years, very inspiring.

I'm currently with my girl friend Ruth in Rezekne, Latvia, near to the Russian and Belarus borders. My IR 5300 camera went for an unplanned dive into the Rezekne River while I investigated some interesting pondweeds, and I was anxious to learn whether it had survived the bath. The lens appeared unscathed, but the camera itself was dripping wet. After drying out in the sun, the viewfinder continued to be foggy for a while, but I managed to coax the camera into taking a few pictures, one of these below, before the camera died again. Much later that evening, the fog had evaporated completely and the D5300 reluctantly returned to an operative state. A bonus the day was very hot :)

My drowned, then dried-out and brought back to life D5300 (IR) continues to work. However, I discovered the AF functionality now is slower than usual and a bit on the erratic side as well. A meeting with my friendly Nikon repair tech obviously is called for once I return from Latvia.
A slight malfunction of the camera sometimes can add instead of detract to the outcome, though. A young girl on the playground in the old city of Daugavpils, near Lithuanian and Belarus borders. Drowned D5300, 18-140 Nikkor.

The lower left, near the edge of the image, shows a small clear circle among the otherwise straight lines. It resembles a water drop, except for it's perfect roundness, where a water drop would most likely show an irregular circumference. To what do you attribute the appearance of that circle?
I vote yes, I'm always in favor of more images, so a travel diary would be most welcome.

Probably a dust spot not properly taken care of. Editing on a small travel laptop is far from easy.
I'll look into the image material from the trip once we are back in Norway, then make a decision.

ground spices, seeds and roots with salt and pepper made into a mix of special taste and smell. Then I prepare a dough of 100% fullgrain rye flour, Yeast and water into a perfectly smooth lump. I pick breadroll size pieces from the dough and make flat US pancake size things of it. Into the very hot oven and a few minutes baking on both sides. Best on the second day when the spices have soaked in completely if you manage not to eat the tempting treat on day one

my soil is wet and is covered with mulch through which grass and leafy greens pushed through, so: water is not easily lost. The other gardens are yellow brownish hrey, mine is green. Only the experimental part which I did not mow is a tad on the unerrect side
Ample garden compost on a yearly basis but the sandy soil and severe drought the last few years are hard to keep up with.

Hardly any butterflies here, less each year actually, although i spotted a swallowtail the other day but didnt return so no image taken.
We will wait for the asters to flower :)

I did adapt plants in the garden to feed the butterflies and their caterpillars. The number of species doubled in 3 years. Anyway, species present do vary a lot from year to year.

Great shot with the 135mm f/2 K ! I should use my 135/2.8 Q more often, but I'm rediscovering the 60mm micro G (I had the AF-D but it was stolen at my daughter's flat).

One would expect him to be smiling. Monsoon rush hour with sun and no rain. I imagine he is a lower/mid level Civil Servant since they are the only ones who seem to be using bicycles theses days ;) . Sony a7iii, Tamron 28-75 f2.8 @ f4, 1/250. I did have the Z6, 24-70 f4 S on the seat beside me.

John, when I was a kid in the '50s I lived not to far from the Kiser Steel Mill in Fontana California but the guys from the Mill that I remember were the original Hell's Angels ;)

Well, the current leader, and most famous, Sonny Barger, lives right here in Phoenix.
I nave memories of Fontana and Kaiser Steel from the 60's, but as a kid, I lived in Stockton, and rode a Schwinn. :)

The month goes to the end, and I try to find something from this month. It has to be this herd of wild reindeers. I am actually not sure how many they are.
