You do like your's "fish"!
-
Excellent utilisation of a full-frame fisheye.
-
Great shot, Ann!
-
the power of Ann
great picture
-
Very nice composition. I just would crop a bit of the right side to make the flag more centralized.
-
Amazing image. The timing and the framing are perfect!
-
wonderful image, the flow of the flag goes well with the overall curved lines
-
Dramatic!
-
Thank you all so much for your generous comments.
Mr. Fish can be so much fun to use — on the right subject.
I didn't know I needed one until I saw the magnificent specimen which Erik brought on Safari to Africa back in 2009.

Ann ,
it's a great composition , in every aspect and in every axis !
The curved lines of the buildings make a perfect and dramatic frame for the stressed flag !
Thanks for showing to us !
-
Dramatic and dynamic lines, movement-timing and color contrast. Very nice walkaround the image after taking the initial hit.
Do you care to share wich lens did you use here?
-
I am so glad that you both liked it.
I shot this with the little Nikon AF Fisheye NIKKOR 16mm F/2.8D. It's a very small lens and can slip easily into a pocket.
I do de-Fish images which I have shot with it sometimes but this one was processed at full-Fish with Lens Profile Corrections turned off.
Exposure was: 1/5000, f/11, ISO 10000 (That flag was really whipping around in the wind.)
-
ISO 10000 :o
Thanks Ann for the information
-
Yep: ISO 10,000!
Or so the EXIF says.
That was shot on a D3S so you can understand why I considered that a D5 was an "essential" purchase the moment that Nikon announced them.

Because, I was away for the weekend, I originally posted an existing JPG that was processed some years ago and which I happened to have on my MacBook Pro.
I have now re-visted my original RAW and re-processed it using the current software and this is the difference:

If I'm allowed a choice. I'll choose thee first version. YMMV
-
I vote for the second version. Less color cast on the neutrals but the flag remains vivid. YMMV...
-
Ann, this is a wonderful image and i like the revisited version.
Really well done, I love it!
-
What an excellent capture of a dramatic scene. I love the position of the flag and how it’s lines align with the buildings.
-
I would prefer the revisited version. The lowered contrast of the buildings and the grasses enhances the somewhat brightened colors of the flag nicely.
Also, the remnant of the building at the top left corner was judiciously cloned out (?). ;)
-
Akira noticed!
:)
It is quite illuminating to re-open old NEFs in the newest versions of converter software and see just how much better it has become. (Or perhaps our skills have advanced a bit with the passing years as well?)
