with a pair of hedge shears only I cut down one third of the plants to see what is beneath. The roots are far apart and the open soil allows for significant erosion. I hope that after my treatmemt with mulching and raddish and a huge serving of seeds to build a bird and bee friendly environment we wil see a dense soil cover. Great light this afternoon, almost autumnal!

Probably the remote control is more costly than the bike...

I have a real problem with this type of composition in picture #16 (head in the middle, too much room above) which seems customary to the author - another one further in this thread #4-. Rules are there to be breached - as they say - but that doesn't mean it always works. In addition, the cassock of the gentleman demands for a little bit more detail.
These are my two cents. :)

Thank you. I also use two pairs one for thorny stuff with thick leather, the other softer if I rely need the fingers not the whole hand mostly. The softer pair is more prone to sweating fingers thst smell of rubber after usage. I prefer the rougher version.

The Society of German Architects, Section Bonn and some others regularly invite to visit places of city development. Here a new city quarter is planned to be developed, up to 350 new flats for rich, poor and average income people are projected. A local politician was there and told us that they are not sure if in the end anything will be build there at all. in the underground there seem to be non toxic wastes making the ground less dense than desireable. It is possible that the houses foundation need to go 15 meters deep into the ground to meet rock. That might be a risk noone wants to take financially esp not if the next door neighbours are insinuated to be of a clan criminal profession and the quarter does not have a very good reputation in general, with hookers on the street in the evenings and burning oil drums as a winter heating for outside amusement of the people living there. A bit of a strange but interesting event today...

before the sowing.... more after midnight
I already did sow and mulch and water. The field is ready for the winter now.
-
after sowing, mulching and watering. Ready for winter!
I am really curious how this will work out
-
Frank what did you sow?
-
Raddish, Mustard, Lupines, Phacelia and a super high diversity insect friendly flower and grass mix.
The concept is to use these plants to enhance soil content and structure. Esp the raddish, daikon winter seed, promises to increase soil organic matter and deepen the aerobic layer.
I try to follow the ideas of P.A. Yeoman's book "Water for every farm" and Marc Shepard's "Restoration Agriculture"
I try to attract biology: insects, esp beetles, plus worms and microorganisms with a high diversity of plants and carbon sequestration from the air into strong and deep raddish roots not for a harvest but for letting them rot to feed soil organisms.
I am insecure when it comes to the amount of seeds I used and the amount of woody parts in the mulch. Are these sticks OK or are they to coarse?
-
I hope you didnt sow too deep, lets wait and see then :)
-
I hope you didnt sow too deep, lets wait and see then :)
I guess the seeds are just covered by topsoil, roughly between one and four centimeters. My fear ist more that the mulch might prevent sun from helping the plants with their first steps.

Nice pullover, Frank. Did you lose some weight? You look healthier.
The hospital food was bad so I did not eat it. I lost eight kilos at first, gained some back and am now at minus 2 from the starting point which ist minus 12 compared to last year when I had still 10 kilos of cortisone water in my system.
Plus I changed weight distribution: less tummy fat more shoulder muscles. Gardening helps with that

This is a fascinating project Frank, both for horticulture and photography.
Have you ever tried Fenugreek (or as the Indians would say, Methi)? I used to sow this as a green manure, along with Mustard.
Was going to just dig them each in until I noticed the aroma - both are delicious, plus a free source of nutritious greens, ideal for a stir fry or when young maybe even straight into salads.
It might be just a little late for Fenugreek to produce much now, subject to when cold sets in. But tried in April, you'll get something delicious in a few weeks and actual pungent Fenugreek seeds if you leave them long enough

There it is!!☺️👍🏼
Came out really nice too!!!! Not that I had any doubt!..😉😊
Didn’t go to bed before half past four, out making love with what we bought at Interfoto and the D500!! I spent the night testing various iso values, and I must, again, say it’s just incredible up to 40K, 52K is also usable but not in an entirely dark environment, but can definitely be used in situations where there is a bit more light, like in concerts or theatres, to improve the speed!
I still haven’t processed them, that I’ll do later today, after I’ve tested the 500 in other situations. So iso 52000 can improve during PP. Yet to see though..😊
Thank you SO MUCH for everything, dear Birna! It was a dream stay!!😁😁
Love you and Ruth very very much!! ☺️☺️😊
Many kisses and hugs 🤗🤗🤗🤗
-
Patrick: Yes, the D500 is an incredible piece of hardware. I would not recomnend to use her beyond 20k ISO. It is a pita to process the files and the usable resolution is far below the native resolution. Congratulations to your purchase!

Hi Frank,
Indeed it is an incredible machine, without doubt! 😊👍🏼
I went outside with a Nikon 24 1.4 and the D500 on Monday night, it was well dark outside and I just wanted to test the iso.
I found out that around 40K the iso was ok, and I believe I will use it on 40K when that’s absolutely needed! The camera ain’t mine but something I’ve borrowed from Birna, to test it before I eventually buy one myself! Who knows, perhaps I won’t go along with the camera or it me...☺️☺️ So it’s really great to get to test it properly before I spend money on a thing which I perhaps won’t use that much!😉👍🏼
Have a great day, Frank! Today the sun is shining and there’s practically no wind outside! 😊👍🏼🌇🌞☀️🌞

The Bear is on the loose .... unfortunately, we didn't have the time to visit the pancake house nearby :D

Patrick: yes, the 1.4/24 is great on the D500 but IMO the 1.8/20 is even better...

Apparently you can't risk leaving young hedgehogs to hibernate on their own if they still weigh less than 500g by October. This one turned out to be too small for us to keep.

Is it weather, impacts from vehicles, or vandalism that the trees are being protected from?

I notice the trees at the other side of the road are unprotected or not yet protected... If unprotected, perhaps it's protection from vehicles, given the other trees are further away from the road.

It means there will be work done in that street, so machines and traffic wont damage the trees, during the works.

Armando, they are, of course, both part of the statue and so is the ladder. Represents the way the pots were watered down before self-irrigation was invented. Usually a two people, one young one old, will take care of the plants. The patio route in Córdoba in May to see them is spectacular.

Thanks Akira. Yes, lovely lens, I find it better than the manual Angenieux 35-70 version. More flare resistant too.
A bit of a problem is the EXIF data. Incorrect LensID. Some software recognize a Tokina 28-70/2.8 , other the Nikkor 28-70/2.8 The Chip seems also be incorrect stating f/2.8 instead of f/2.6.
And It's no longer possible making your own Lens Profile. Adobe blocked that possibility.
