As mentioned in April, the Lilac is a few weeks early now, and also the 'Golden Rain' is making efforts to blossom early.
The Lilac is very white this year, with some extra postproc. emphasize is on the color and the contrast with the sky and sun.
Given the distance to the blossom the Nikkor 200/2 is very suitable in giving the expression needed.

Take the niikkor 55/1.2 outside in and among the shrubs and plants very short focal distance handheld @f/1.2, light windy condition, photoshop straight, neutral conversion.
Thank you

Today I was out with my photoclub to photograph at a motocross arena, in order to improve our skills.
Rainy and around 8 centigrade :(

Yes, indeed. As if the original light pink colours were washed out... (like in this example https://www.directplant.nl/tuintips/sering-soorten-en-verzorging/ (https://www.directplant.nl/tuintips/sering-soorten-en-verzorging/))

Looks like some deficiency, lack of minerals, potash and phosphor, acid conditions of the soil inhibits growth, better mulch the soil with some low nitrogen compost yearly.

Øivind, sorry about that. And sorry I cannot figure.
To me, the bigger question is why I'm seeing twelve eggs (some cracked) and a seemingly smashed "one" in a case for the set of a dozen...
Akira, exactly, you got it - the question I really do not have an answer to. All 12 were salvageable without any cracks after soaking the messy stuff in water to soften it up. So I lost nothing except quite some time spent on salvaging and clean up the mess (at least four of them were "glued" in place and needed quite some care to get free). Why none of them broke when a surplus egg there was no space for apparently must have been smashed into them during the producer's packaging stage is beyond me...
So to sum up, the answer is then of course that I did not break any eggs on my way home from the grocery store.
(But imagine I initially got pretty mad, partially on myself when I opened the package at home - I always check for cracked eggs before putting them in the shopping basket, but not this time).
-

-
I guess the smashed one is Humpty Dumpty who had a great fall?!
We will never know but perhaps likely, or it broke because there was no room for it in the package when it was closed. It could be fun showing the image to the store on the next shopping trip just to see what the reaction will be.
-
This begs the question, would it have been better to have brought home the one before or the next package which probably had eleven eggs in it?
-
How many eggs did I smash on my way from the grocery store? (Hint: Look again.)
I guess the packaging machine has some holding mechanism, holding 12 new eggs over the pack after the first 12 are deposited. I guess further that this holding mechanism has a failiure rate higher than 0.001.
So go post it into the "Number 13" thread!
-
This begs the question, would it have been better to have brought home the one before or the next package which probably had eleven eggs in it?
probably not. they will control the packages for weight. And while the one our friend bought might have been below the upper limit the 11 egg box might have been below the lower limit

Brilliant and iconic.

Thanks BEZ. These days, I'm ever so slowly winding my way back into photography.
Actually this resulted from today's test series in which I tried to find whether the Fuji S5Pro could permanently replace my S3Pro, and if the AFS 18-140 had the quality to step in for my beloved 35-135/3.5-4.5 for experimental IR work. The jury is still out. I'll play around a bit more with the new combination before I finally conclude.

Are you all right, Frank? You suffered from similar pain in the past?
I am very compliant to medication plans if I trust the doctor. From early July last year till December 16th they gave me Azathioprin which did not have any of the desired effects but massive side effects. These got much better after getting rid of this poison but the joint pains and muscle pains did not go away. Sometimes I can hardly move, sometime the pains are just a background noise and I can move freely. I need to dig further into that, find the trigger and cause, the functional reason for these pains and dependeces, then get rid of it. But it is not easy. ...

My new "local" river, Glomma, happens to be Norway's largest and surely it is not advisable to fall into the swift currents!

What a difference, Fons !
True, the d500 shows more definition and also contrast, the image from the D3 setup is still likeable though.
-
Birna, this new system of yours is very promising for IR.
Apparently this is the case, yes. However not yet convinced I should let the old favourite, the 35-135/3.5-4.5 Nikkor, go permanently.
There is no denying the 18-140 has a convenient range of view, though, and its AF and VR work for IR too.
-
Fons: don't you think the difference mostly comes from the lens?
Birna: there is no need to drop one permanently, is there? Anyway having access to wide angle is essential for what I do in IR, I basically never use my 30-110 tele zoom on the V1 IR although it is excellent there.
-

Olivier, of course not a very scientific comparison, probably the lens and the sensor, both will explain the difference in iq, the voigtländer 90 is just a very sharp lens, the 28-300mm is too general when it comes to specific qualities.

The Blue's are different, usually that is a 'lens difference' not? The CV90 looks more natural in the colours.
-
The difficulty with photographing natural colours they don't come out true.
finally two images with the voigtländer on the D3, a few hours later so the little scene has already changed

As [false-colour] IR is just an addition to my normal workflow, it is advantageous to have a small kit in the field. The AFS 18-140 allows me carrying one lens less (no extra wide-angle required). The S5Pro is better handling than the S3Pro and its battery performance vastly improved compared to the previous model. Plus, of course, it supports in-camera GPS recording. The downside is colour extraction being less easy. But I'm slowly getting the hang of it.

Birna: which RAW converter supports the S5pro?
A few do. Fuji's own Hyper-Utility v3, Silkypix, Rawtherapee, Lightroom/ACR (at least the earlier versions up to 4.x), S7RAW, Darktable (?), Bibble 4.x, Photo Ninja (45%). Amongst these several only support the 6 MPix mode and ignore the actual layout, Photo Ninja being a particularly bad example as it not only ignores the extra pixels but also turns the image 45 degrees (sic).
Hyper-Utility v3 if you can get hold of the software and it installs on your computer -- neither condition of which is guaranteed; otherwise I'd recommend Silkypix 8.x as it allows fine-control over the processing. Silkypix is not freeware though yet has a vastly less impenetrable user interface than Fuji's own software which is a competitor for the worst program ever written.
All S5Pro images posted here are run through Silkypix.

You cannot buy the V7. You can upgrade if you already purchased that version.
I stick to ACR for my Fuji S5 files (which does a pretty good job). The alternative possibilities are very very time-consuming
-
If I understand correctly, Birna uses S5Pro for IR, and Silkypix should be the best one to simulate Kodak EIR color IR slide film.

Interesting scene, what's with the army personnel and smoke ?
An information afternoon of the army. Showing materials and giving a 'demo', including smoke curtains... ;)
-
---How come the color on the couple looks normal ?
In fact, only the skin tones appear (semi-)natural. Hair and clothes all have false colours.
I personally abhor people being rendered as blue/cyan 'aliens', so tend to direct the processing towards a warmer and more advantageous colour scheme for my EIR work. This also is more in accordance with the colour palette of the original slide film way back in the dark ages of analogue photography.
-
Very suggestive Armando. Love the framing too. The minimalistic approach gets the point across with space for imagination. It is like an expression in a book: "she was a most feminine and beautiful creature..." and you think of this :)

A return to "normality" with the Fuji S5Pro for false-colour IR ('EIR'). This time combined with the pretty unusual lens, 400 mm f/4.5 Nikkor-Q on an AU-1 focusing adapter. This vintage behemoth is seriously sharp, but its age shows by the CA present. Not that this matters much for EIR, more adds an ethereal atmosphere to the outcome.

In a world where women are onto men as they are currently and want to punish even the innocent the dream seems not so far fetched at all. As a Feminist I always took the women's side because I want eye height communication with every body.

Here is today's example from the opposite spectral end (UV). Shot with the rather unlikely combination of Zoom-Nikkor 200-600 mm f/9.5 (AIS) and the Nikon D3200 with built-in UV bandpass filter.
I shot these Marsh Marigolds with the lens extended to 600 mm. as the plants were not immediately accessible from my vantage point. A pesky wind and 1/6 sec shutter speed meant a lot of the images had movement blur. But this one and a handful others came out pretty nice. This vintage zoom design is surprisingly sharp, but its age shows by a lower than usual image contrast.
(the UV-absorbing basal patches are a typical signature for Caltha palustris)

thank you

Cute - and an old saying: "curiosity killed the cat".
Somehow I don't think that cat slobber/saliva is an ideal lens cleaner, but your mileage may differ. ;D

Wow. That is a visionary picture IMO. I cannot even say exactly what it is, it makes it even more interesting....

The "local" river at my new location has a lot of photo opportunities to offer. There are several run-of-river hydroelectric power stations nearby, and of course a visit there is deemed mandatory for a newcomer to the district.
This is Rånåsfoss, once upon a time believed sufficient for the electricity supply for the city of Oslo. Now it probably just generates sufficient power to charge all the computers and mobile devices found there :)

disturbingly surreal. The Porsche types seem quite generic / stereotypical to me, the whole scene like another planet after a nuclear war. I was sick in bed for a while...

Franks been making a point to ignore contributions, not that we care but it is bit numsy minded considering the big picture what NG is about ;D
In the beginnig I was not shy to say "shitty picture" if I thought so. Then admins told me to stop that because "it was not what NG is about".
-
We are not against criticism on NG, not at all. However, negative comment carry most weight if the reasoning behind them is elaborated. A comment like "shitty picture" is equally worthless as "good picture" -- the information content is zero.
-
I may hope we speak freely and honestly, calculated comments please leave them out, :)
-
Should be zero problems there, Fons. The admins very seldom change anything in existing posts.
-
Was out with my photoclub today on our spring tour in the green.
I can recommend being member of a traditional photoclub besides NikonGear :)
-
I may hope we speak freely and honestly, calculated comments please leave them out, :)
then please do not insunuate that I should comment on any picture, esp on your pictures:
Franks been making a point to ignore contributions, not that we care but it is bit numsy minded considering the big picture what NG is about ;D
I am free to comment or not comment on any picture in the way I see fit. You critisize me for not commenting on all of your pictures and you do it again and again. That is a good way to discourage any future comments on your pictures.
-
Thank you Birna and Frank. It is nice to hace time to explore here and there. That 105mm 1.4...

Continuing my experiments.
In preparation for an upcoming big project I recently acquired some new stuff that apparently combines with other oddities floating around in my office.

Oddities floating around your office sounds VERY interesting. Eager to see more of your experimentsv :)

This was just an Oude Delft Rayxar 50/0.75 that could be attached to an m43 camera via a suitable adapter and some epoxy glue. OK for experiments but not a long-term solution.

Frank:
I do hope that it is not malaria because it is very unpleasant. (I didn't think that anywhere in Europe was malarial?)
Whatever it is, I am sure that you are in the best place to deal with it effectively and rapidly and hope that you will very soon be feeling better and returning home again.
-
Get well Frank! All you need is a good nurse ;)

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Frank.

I was asked for a photo of myself for a presentation that I'll be giving, any photo , I gave them one where I'm facing away from the camera, they didn't like it ;D
So , I had this one taken with a voice operated remote control (my daughter) , to make it more interesting we used the 105 f2.5, I explained how to focus and use the focus confirmation dot and the arrows to turn the focus ring in the right direction. The first batch of images were all back focused ... I forgot to mention the dot has to stay on, for the second batch we only needed two images.
Since we were reviewing in camera she was fascinated how the lens had the PS blur already done! After my shots the remote control ignored my instructions and proceeded to take photos of plants, the dog and other things complementing the blur effect of every photo
-
Your Remote Control apparently found, and used, the very elusive Nikon Picture Control: "Blur . . .> more"?
