Nice report, Ric!  Has the shop moved?  IIRC, the original Lucky Camera was located much closer to the Shinjuku Station and next to the porn movie theater?  :D

Camera stores with that kind of used equipment selection disappeared in the Los Angeles area in the 1980's.

Camera stores with that kind of used equipment selection disappeared in the Los Angeles area in the 1980's.

Camera stores have disappeared altogether in the San Bernardino valley. Are there any camera stores left in Hollywood or do I have to drive to NY, NY to find a brick and mortar with a professional stock.

Dave who lives among the dirt people.

I used to do most of my buying at Lee-Mac Camera Exchange in Pasadena, CA. I had an open account from 1977 to 2002 when they closed. I sometimes drove to Hollywood.

I really miss something like this in Copenhagen.
I just browsed their website, unfortunately it is only in Japanese if you want to see what they have in stock.
Wonder if they ship to Europe?

I doubt it. Maybe they can if you ask :o :o :o

shops here rarely ship pverseas due to the hassle.

Oh, yes, Chuko Camera Box is more for nerds!

I found my APO Nikkor 240mm f9.0 as well as the more rare multi coated WA APO Nikkor 150mm f9.0 for one of my friends there.

I will tackle MAP in the future but i am having 2nd thoughts, they are too "corporate"  :o :o :o

I would like to highlight mom and pop shops in order to help them gain some more revenue. I don't want the small shops to go away. Next is probably Sankyo ::) where I found a tickmark lens for $80  8)

Agree!
Thank you Richard for all of these shops and the good advice. I may be visiting Tokyo at the end of the year and now have targets for camera browsing.
Alas I suspect that I will be spending more time at the Tower Records (we don't have CD shops anymore here) and Ishibashi Music branches

I don't think I'll ever go to Tokyo (ones never know though), but your shop visits is a delight and reminds me of some old shops that used to be Boulevard Beaumarchais in Paris (Nowadays it's much more fancy and uppity). Thanks for sharing  ;)

Thank you for posting these reports! Very tempting environment you live in  :o 8)

Must be hard to cope with  ;D

For instance:
This is a Nikon SP (reissue) that has never been opened it comes with the reissued classic W-Nikkor 3.5cm f/1.8 and from what I can gather, this is considered to be a nice price! If I can just afford this thing, I would have bought it in an instant!

I didn't even knew they reissued the 35mm 1.8  :o

on a serious note. I find that Yodobashi's are usually more professional although I can name you 1 rude staff. ::)

the Bic staff at Bicqlo camera shops are usually OK.  :o :o :o

most of the staff in Shinjuku know me. they have been seeing me for years. they even saw how my child grew from a small baby to a toddler.

i usually end up having a friendly relationship with the shop staffs. i get discounts and other stuff without even asking for them!

i got this yesterday from Alps-do. the owner ran to me and gave this to me for a very good price! he knew that I have been wanting to buy one for years.
its a price you only give to friends and i cannot say it here.

the people at Sankyo are also great.

The "special discount for friend" is fairly common in Japan.  I have such relationship wiith some musical instrument shops that I visit much more often than the camera shops.

I bought a nice silk cord Artist and Artisan there also so maybe that was why?
