I really do not need another macro, but this 55/3.5 showed up, and I couldn't help myself. It's a late pre-AI PC without compensation, and before I knew it the $30 had changed hands. I took it home and did the AI conversion, and a quick hand held shot with flash suggests that I'm going to like this one. The following is a 675 pixel crop from the D7100 original, no sharpening or other post processing.

My first real lens was a 55/3.5 Micro Nikkor-P. My first AI Nikkor was a 55/3.5 AI. I still own the AI plus a couple of 55/3.5 compensating Micro-Nikkors. And one more, a 55/2.8 AIS Micro-Nikkor. I think I need one more.

That model was my first actual Nikkor lens in 1975. Optimized for 1:10. Relatively little flare and ghost when pointed at the sun...for a 50-60-class lens.
