Hi all,
I just participated in the Urban Photo Race Rotterdam. A wonderful event. As a participant you have to take 3 photos for six different themes during the day. You als have to check in at four checkpoints throughout the city. Although it is not really a race, it is a challenge to come up with creative ideas for each theme and make three different photos related to that theme.
The next event is in Amsterdam. I already registered. If you are interested, here is a link:

Please let me know if you intend to go or already registered. It would be wonderful to meet there!

Sounds interesting, but I can't on this date.
In Copenhagen they have a similar thing called photo marathon, they do 12 and 24 hours, with 4 new themes every 4 hours. I have done it in the old film days, and when they did the last analog marathon, now it is digital.

wow. That looks even more challenging: 24 hours in a row!

Have look here: https://www.fotomarathon.dk
Maybe the Danish can be read ;) Or Google translate can help

The website is not very informative.
Do I have to download the three pics at each checkpoint?
How does it work?

Sorry for missing your post, Frank. I did not get a notification and was away. No, you give them your photos at the end of the day which gives you time to assess and select the photos you took during the day. You won't get all themes at the same time. IN Rotterdam we got 3 themes at the first checkpoint, and the others at the other checkpoints. By now, the first checkpoint is known. You will get the others (an address or location) .
I hope you can make it.. It's fun!

Very nice series Peter, but you wont find me in A'dam :o

Very nice series Peter, but you wont find me in A'dam :o
But hopefully at the first Nikongear Photo Race?
-
What were the topics in A'dam?
-
What were the topics in A'dam?
You won't be able to tell from the photos I posted (I like to take the liberty to shoot what I like as well) but the topics were:
1. I finally became an old guy (anton Corbijn)
2. On Track
3. Not close enough
4. Noise
5. Body language
6. Warm
and an optional one-photo theme: Water in the City
The most challenging thing is that you experience pressure to come up with ideas quickly. My biggest mistake was trying to find multiple interpretations instead of sticking to one interpretation and then shoot three variations to create a series. My other one was that I got distracted by scenes that interested me. ;-)
-
Funny, because I thought it was something about bicycles
-
Depending on where and when I'm interested :)
Reminisce the good old Art School approach of tackling themes a bit with a bunch of nice people. Sounds like there might be good coffee involved
-

I also took a bunch of photos that I wanted to take ;-)
I could have shared my selection for the themes but, as said, each series wasn't really consistent so I decided not to.
