Instead of posting this image to the existing "Clouds" thread, I decided to start a new thread under this theme. It is an art form to take an object you found and transform its essence into something abstract.
I'm looking forward to seeing your contributions!

There are so many possibilities in interpreting the shapes, I have spend some time already with this image!
Here it as been one cloud covering the entire sky for days now, hopefully we will have more interesting options soon...

Olivier, thanks for commenting. As you would already understand, I'm trying to expand the interpretation of "objet" utilizing the potential of the camera to pick up "things" you find that are impossible to do with our own hands.

Thanks Akira. Yes, the second one was originally shot as a color composition but I found the object itself to be interesting - put in a different context it could become an abstract object in my mind. However, the entire object should probably be in the frame then.

The contents of a slag tub. Tipped out after cooling, from nearby steelworks, probably late 19th century. Steelworks flourished from 1850 to 1900, closed c1918 and was demolished 1933.

When I saw that swan, every non-brown item (leaves, petals, flower, coke bottle,...) was the same vivid red colour. I framed the shot to exclude any other item. Swan wouldn't move an inch.

Was looking at other topics, I came across a photo by Birna in the Show your 80/85mm photos, I figured I had a similar one from last year's trip to Norway...
Only using a different lens (28 mm, FF) and a slightly different POV: a little more to the R, to show the thickness of the "frame".
The false colors are neither UV nor IR, only trying to penetrate (with Photoshop) the thick layer of clouds that was shielding the mountains, adding some depth to the otherwise dull-looking clouds.

Whilst nothing is forever, this image is a grim reminder that sometimes it is better to overhaul a properly engineered Swiss or Scandinavian made sewing machine than it is to buy a new alternative emanating from goodness knows where - even if the cheaper newer option comes with the same brand name.
My wife's 60 year old Bernina still runs sweetly even after a busy lifetime of serious sewing (plus of course regular maintenance and servicing / CLA-ing).

Maybe because there are lots of nice restaurants out there for connoisseurs for cuisine. "Akira" is not a rare name for Japanese, and actually the name had become world-famous thanks to the anime movie carrying this name as title. So, I'm not surprised to hear about a restaurant with the same name as mine in Italy. :)

Thanks Akira! .. made me laugh :-) Now I also see a poor one-legged wild hog. Yes, John captured a very nice but different kind of beast. The surreal thing is placed outside a nature/science school building and it looks like bone - with that size it might be from a whale skeleton (upper mouth part maybe).

Gothic Line
The area I described recently in the Shape Echo thread (Nazi civilian massacre), is where the Gothic Line (last ditch attempt by the Nazi to stop Allied Forces) was passing. You can still find old rusty military vehicles. Not long ago, even an entire Allied airplane was found buried in the dense, impenetrable vegetation (we call it macchia, the French call it maquis).
Notice the bullet holes through the roof.

Thanks Akira, it was a lucky consequence of a freeze-up of my cabin (dry cabin, no pipes to get compromised). I think what happened is the following: The very clean water got supercooled at the inside air temperature of -7°C. When I came back I must then have turned the bottle upside down, at which point the water immediately froze while the air was rising towards the bottom which now was at the top. The interaction between the walls of the bottle likely caused the friction that seeded the freezing, thus the bubbles could rise in the center.

At this particular contruction site, they put the usual masking barriers, with two holes at the appropriate place, allowing the Umarell -and eventual dog- to watch freely over the works in progress.

John, that's a killer!
I saw it first in pano form due to my screen size, with just the petals and the sigarette butt. For me, that crop is even more impactful than with the "background" wall.
