Got a great deal on a Sony XQD Series N card for my Nikon D500.
I'd like to get a reader, but so far my research has turned up a lot of confusion on my part. Seems not all XQD card readers can read all XQD cards. Most of the ones I see out there for sale right now are for series S and G. I'd like to think that they would be backward compatible, but it appears that is not the case.
So, I'm looking for enlightenment. Please educate me, or if it is just easier, let me know which XQD card reader will work with the 32GB Series N card I've purchased.

The MRW-E90 from Sony is your safest bet as that one can handle both the cards that have a usb controller built-in and the ones that don't.

I use lexar xqd 64gb 440mb/s 2933x card into a same reader Peter mentions, but actually you dont need a reader if you use a usb cable i/o
camera and pc.

The only thing I do not understand is why my Lexar-2933-cards deliver 440MB/s but the card reader never reads faster that 180MB/s
I guess the limit is in the USB3-Interfaces (one Intel, one NEC) of my computer which do not seem to live up to specification.

I use the USB3 reader that came with the cards (Sony).

Yes, indeed, I am doing that now. I just prefer to use card readers for transferring data. just fits my workflow better.

So I got a 64GB 2933X Lexar and the top speed reader. Bad looks but speedy.

As my machines all have ExpressCard slots, I just got a Sony XQD adapter. Very cheap and works flawlessly. The adapter can stay in the slot thus never risk being left behind and no extra cables to fuss about.

No express card slots here, so no an immediate option here. I did see those though.
