Most of the time, when taking a photograph of a person, a group of persons or an animal the photographer does his best to capture the face of said subject. Sometimes the brave decision would be to do the exact opposite. Having someone look out of a picture gives an interesting sense of direction to the resulting photograph.
I will try to post some examples to show what I try to get at here, but what I really hope for is to see work from you, showing how you use this to your advantage
Example 1, follow the leading lines which lead to the setting sun

Example 2, close up and just looking out of the frame

Examples 3 and 4, following a path leading away from you

I thinks this fits the bill. Musician heading for the dressing-room after the big new years concert
-
A hare, nearly flying with the dog after... ;)
-
Thank you Francis and golunvolo for joining in the fun. Both images fit in the theme perfectly :) How the ... did you catch that hare legging it like that!
Golunvolo, I really like the mood in your musician shot. Well seen and good use of negative space too
-
This image is the good example that the TC-16A works perfectly with my Df attached with the 300mm f/4.5 ED (non IF).
The only drawback consist to do a ''pre-focus'' as the optical system can only move few millimeters inside the TC. When you shoot, the TC makes the focus finer, so you can get AF with any compatible manuel lenses. :)
Note that the image was cropped.
Francis.

Thanks. It is by lack of post skills that you can not appreciate the shadow in the blue wall. It is another woman with a cello as well, duplicating the image. Oh, well...I should try harder :)
Andreas, that image make me sad. Nature walking away, giving us her back.
I agree about the light in the first shot.

Not so brave, she is my friend's (the Artist) assistant and she is running to tell him something as he exits , stage right with his Canon ;). I do have shots of her coming towards me also :)
-
The artist exits the stage leaving this excelllent photo op unused, but it would have never happened had he not gone. An interesting photo, interesting background as to what happens and the question remains, is it better to be the artist or is it better to observe the events taking place because of the artists' presence (and his leaving)?

-
50mm f1,4?
Nice narrative. After they came back from the beach where Armando photographed them these girls apparently went for a drink in Tilburg :)

Buddy, I never really shoot the Installations so for me it is everything else going on. That is what he wants me to do :) .
I was surprised that he actually had another professional Photog there. He normally prints huge, and sells, also does a book of the Installation. I'm really a Sports , action, shooter so see a pretty girl running and I just shoot ;) .

No, I cropped it a bit for a better framing, this is the 200mm f/2.0 Ai. Very good narrative suggestion. Does remind me I should visit the City-beach here ;)

An addition from me.
Taken with my Nikon D3 and 28mm f3,5 PC lens, slightly shifted. Th emeeting between dog (Lumi) and crow went very controlled and unpredictable. The crow wa snot really impressed and Lumi not really interested in chasing birds so when the crow finally decended I had plenty of time to set up for this shot.

Thank you - but to my eye there is a compositional flaw: the ladies on the left are all dark and those on the right are all light, and it would be better to mix the light and dark ladies, or, better still have them all dark.

Arthur, sorry for my belated reply. I guess that taking pictures is allowed at the sumo matches.
I'm not familiar with Aki Sushi (apparently a Sushi Bar in New Jersey?), but could inform you of good sushi restaurant.
If you are to go to sumo matches, you should be aware that the official sumo matches take place only in odd months and in different cities according to the month.

One more that would probably never have seen the light of day (missing the tail) . Testing out my newly acquired 70-200mm F2.8 VR II and TC17E II. As I was snapping away, slowly inching closer, this was the last snap before the "model" kicked into high gear.

Ouch indeed! I hope that it is not your car Hans. Our Melbourne weather has been most variable of late.

Hello Hugh...no, not my car, if it were there would have been more camera shake than any IBIS/VR could cope with! A 30knt wind brought down this magnificent eucalypt just around the corner...a chance to do a bit of artless reportage ;D
The owner was extremely lucky to have walked away without a scratch.
Shooting the car in the back...

I like the abstractation here, the bleak emptiness as a methaphor for 'condition humaine'!

These horses didn't find me interesting (no food..) so they left.
