Appears to be a very useful accessory, and it happens to look cool as well.  I wish I was into birding just to use one haha!

This photographer attaches EE-1 on the side of his E-M1 during his review of the new Olympus 300/4.0, so that he can look into EE-1 with his left eye with his right eye keeping looking into the EVF.  The flying seagulls and butterfly were taken with the combo (scroll way down to see the combo and the images):

I am not sure how effective this will be.

For me I find the position of the camera against my face is critical to my "automatic alignment", and with this attachment that is lost.

But this draws inspiration (and probably technology) directly from the so-called "hologram sights" which transformed competitive pistol shooting about 20 years ago. And in that usage they were remarkably effective.
