A person with character. You have captured a lot of that.

Not sure I would have put side lights on the person without using better fill-in to the front. However, my light set-up experience in studio work is limited mainly to close-ups, which dictates a different approach anyway.

Quite nice !

a few comments / questions

Lightning is bringing out a lot of shine on the skin, which I do not know how to prevent it unless make up is used

Can you elaborate on the type of light modifiers you used ?
the impression I get is that is not big enough or to far away

I might have asked him to squint a little bit

He seems to be deep in his own thoughts, a bit introvert looking. On the whole the lighting works, a beautiful portrait. The background suits the person and the style. On my monitor there is something strange on the transition between his left shoulder and the background.

Not a thing I would have changed. Subtle rembrandt suitable for this shot. Wish it was mine.

He could easily cast in the series Vikings together with Ragnar Lothbrook :)

Love the Rembrandt-ish lighting ... the single light works for me. I appreciate those who can work the shadows. The bronze skin tone is different and works with your image. The pensive expression is, and again, different. The more I look ... the more differences I absorb ... damn this good. Thank you Chris for sharing.

thanks for the comments...Daine was lit by a single strobe which was pointing into a v-flat, giving me a broader/larger light than I would have....he is standing about 3 feet/1 metre from the light
