Title: "New" Zeiss line for Nikon/Canon
Post by: stenrasmussen on September 10, 2015, 17:38:39
Apart from the 50/1.4 and 85/1.4 it might be emperor's new clothes...

The storm chasers will like that they are "weather sealed", and that old 50/1.4 needed to be replaced.
That new 50/1.4 could be very nice...
The 21, 35, and 50 macro are pretty good as they are.
My disappointment is that the 100 macro is apparently left untouched, which means that thousands of new Zeiss customers will learn all about axial chromatic aberration.

I think weather sealing is important, and for video, the quiet, stepless aperture control is likely of value. Zeiss say new coatings across the line reduce flare and the 50/1.4 and 85/1.4 are new designs (much less expensive than the Otuses). It seems a reasonable progression from the existing ZF.2 line.

2 new, four old.  And the 25/2.8 won't make it into the new lineup, apparently.
