NG Supporter Gallery Guidelines
« on: December 01, 2016, 21:17:37 »
Gallery Pro software has been installed on NikonGear for the NG Supporters.
Each NG Supporter has been given 4GB of personal Gallery space
into which they can upload approximately 100 photos.

In the Gallery Pro software, a gallery or a sub-gallery is also referred to as a category.

All members can view the main Nikongear Gallery and any NG Supporter Galleries.

Maximum uploadable image display size:
  1600 x 1800 pixels
However, please remember that not all viewers will be able to view such a large image.
Keeping gallery images to a 800 x 1200 pixel size might be the better way to go.
Images displayed in gallery space are not resized.

Minimum uploadable image display size:  150 x 150 pixels
This is the size of a gallery thumbnail.

Maximum uploadable file size:  Approximately 4MB per file.
File size is determined by the JPG quality setting you select.

Maximum gallery space per NG Supporter:
  Approximately 4GB.

GETTING STARTED

Each Nikongear Supporter has a Default Gallery already in place.

Note that in this app the word gallery is used interchangeably with the word category.

TO FIND YOUR DEFAULT GALLERY for the FIRST TIME
Gallery > MYGALLERY

TO EDIT the NAME of YOUR DEFAULT GALLERY or Add a Description
Gallery > MYGALLERY > Edit > Title > {add mandatory gallery title} > Edit Category (to save)
Gallery > MYGALLERY > Edit > {text box}  > {edit optional gallery description} > Edit Category (to save)

NOTE:  The "save" button is labeled "Edit Category".

In the title box you may delete the default gallery title and add your own title.
Or you can keep the default gallery title.
A gallery title is mandatory.

In the text box you may delete the default gallery description and add your own description.
Or you can leave the description blank.

TO ADD a PHOTO to YOUR GALLERY
Gallery > Add Picture > User Gallery > Select Category > Add Picture > {edit settings} > Add Picture (to save)

NOTE:  The "save" button is labeled "Add Picture".

A typical forum editor will appear. You must add a mandatory Title for your photo. The Description and Keywords fields are optional.

Click the Browse button to bring up file selection for your laptop or PC. Set the Additional Options fields as desired. Click Add Picture to save and complete the upload.

TO DELETE a PHOTO from YOUR GALLERY
Gallery > MYIMAGES > {find image} > Delete

There is a Delete button under every displayed thumbnail.

TO CREATE ADDITIONAL GALLERY CATEGORIES
Gallery > MYGALLERY > Gallery Admin Panel > Add Category > {enter title, parent, description} > Add Category (to save)

NOTE:  The "save" button is labeled "Edit Category".

You can create more than one category in your Gallery space. Hierarchy is determined by the selection of a parent gallery during creation. So same-level sister galleries are possible. And parent-child galleries are possible.

TO SELECT a CATEGORY THUMBNAIL
Gallery > MYGALLERY > {select gallery name} > {click on desired thumbnail} > SET AS CATEGORY THUMBNAIL

If you click up one of your photos to display size, you can select it to be the thumbnail representing your gallery in the Gallery Name listings. Look for this menu setting along the top of the photo above the photo title.

Add a link to your Gallery in your Profile.
Profile > Modify Profile > Forum Profile > See My Gallery > {enter number} > Change profile
(to save)

Note:  the "save" button is labeled "Change profile".

If you go to Gallery > MYGALLERY and then look at your Gallery's URL at the top of the page in the address box, you will see that the last part of the URL string is a number. That is your numerical user ID. Enter that ID number into the box beside "See My Gallery". When a member views your profile, they will see a link to your gallery which is labeled "My Gallery".

Display a Gallery photo in a post.
Gallery > MYGALLERY > {click up desired thumbnail} > Image Linking Codes > BB Code > {copy image url} > {return to topic} > {paste image url into post}

The formatted string displayed in BB Code is designed to display your selected Gallery image in a topic post. So don't forget to copy the displayed, bracketed "img" tags.
